October: Annual Domestic Violence Awareness Month
Our philanthrophy for Sigma Phi Omega is Domestic Violence. Every year, we upheld our biggest service project to promote awareness for domestic violence in our community. Our organization prepares fun activities and events all month!! Please look forward to our October Domestic Violence Week!
We also sell raffle tickets as a fundraiser to raise money for domestic violence victims. They are only a dollar each. :] If you would like to help, please contact our Service Chairpersons.

The Ladies of Sigma Phi Omega presents the 6th Annual Stopping Abuse in Family Environments (S.A.F.E) week event. Please join us in our quest to “end domestic violence.”
SAFE WEEK KICK OFF
Date: Monday, October 15th
Time: 10:00 am - 3 :00 pm
Location: University Center (UC)
Pick up information about domestic violence.
We will have free food, games, and prizes!!!
ROCK FOR SAFE MUSIC BENEFIT
Date: Monday, October 15th
Time: 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Location: UC Arbor
This music benefit will jump start our SAFE week with live performances by Ken Oak Band, Angel, and Amos Rivera.
CANDLELIGHT VIGIL
Date: Tuesday, October 16th
Time: 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Location: UC North Patio
We will pay tribute to the victims of domestic violence. Afterwards, we will form a human line from the UC to the library to signify us lighting the way and making it SAFER.
BOWLING TOURNAMENT
Date: Wednesday, October 17th
Time: 6:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Location: UC Gameroom
The registration fee is $50 per team with a maximum of 5 people per team. There will be a Women’s, Men’s, and Co-Ed league.
BARED SOULS
Date: Thursday, October 18th
Time: 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Location: World Affairs Lounge
This is our own adaptation of “Vagina Monologues” where victims will be relating their experiences of domestic violence to the public.
Venus Tsui, Doctoral Associate of the Graduate College of Social Work, will speak about her research on men becoming victims of domestic abuse.
Any monetary donations are welcome in every event.
We will also be selling $1.00 raffle tickets to give-away the NEW APPLE IPOD NANO. Please see a member of our Sigma Phi Omega for more details.
All proceeds will go towards non-profit domestic violence organizations.
